Program Manager (Unmanned Aircraft Systems)

Location Brownsboro, AL
Position Description

The Program Manager for Unmanned Aircraft Systems provides project leadership, project direction, and technical systems expertise for the design, development, integration and testing of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) used in military applications. The position reports to the Vice President and Manager of Aeronautical Systems Operations (ASO) located near Huntsville, AL. This position serves as the ASO's point-of-contact for project leadership and developing systems UAV and Lighter Than Air solutions to meet customer requirements, working in conjunction with new business development personnel and suppliers. This position assesses multiple candidate solutions for "best fit" with customer requirements, establishes detailed systems requirements and allocation of those requirements to sub-systems and engages with all functional disciplines to determine compliance to the requirements during systems development and qualification.

Key Responsibilities
(Essential Functions)

Project leadership point of contact who is responsible for the development and technical integrity of unmanned aircraft system design and architecture including; avionics, navigation, flight control, flight sensors, data links, ground control stations and mission payloads. Provide leadership for program integrated product team, contribute to technical project management of tasks, schedules, and costs, including developing plans and estimates, task execution, project tracking, reporting, and risk identification and mitigation plans. Supervising the development of system and sub-system specifications and statements of work for sub-system development suppliers. Supervising the development of test and integration plans and requirements for fielding an unmanned aircraft system. Provide program briefings to internal management and external customers. Coordinate and lead multi-disciplined teams to design, develop and field an unmanned aircraft system.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.

Required Skills

Five Years of Program Management experience (as an aerospace contractor only). Six to Ten (10) years of extensive experience in design, development and fielding of an unmanned aircraft system for military applications. Experience with Aerostats and Airships (Lighter Than Air technologies) a plus, but not required. Extensive experience and knowledge of unmanned aircraft systems operating environments to include attaining a military airworthiness certification. Extensive knowledge of unmanned aircraft systems elements; avionics, navigation, flight control, flight sensors, data links, ground control stations and mission payloads. Unmanned Systems experience and knowledge of unmanned system users, design standards and customers. Familiar with unmanned aerial vehicle design and development activities, knowledge of manufacturing procedures, development of requirements verification methods, integrating systems into lab test environment, data analysis and fielded system support. Experience and familiarity with defense acquisition life cycle of major defense systems and programs. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively and lead the effort of co-workers, suppliers, and interact positively with management, and customers in a team environment. Group management skills, leadership skills, and strong communication skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to multi-task and be a self-starter. Must have an existing or the ability to obtain a DoD issued Secret Security clearance.

Desired Experience

Advanced degree in Engineering. Prior Military, FAA or NASA experience and background.

Compensation

Starting Salary >$120,000. Full Benefits to include Medical, Dental, ESOP, etc per ISL Benefit Plan. Relocation Negotiable.
